Tamar Ervin

My name is Tamar (she/her) and I am a PhD student in the Department of Physics at UC Berkeley. I am interested in understanding the fundamental physical processes at work in space plasmas.

I work with Professor Stuart D. Bale, Dr. Trevor A. Bowen, and Dr. Alfred Mallet at the Space Sciences Lab studying solar wind source regions and heating mechanisms using data from Parker Solar Probe, Solar Orbiter, and other space missions. I am the electric and magnetic field (FIELDS) instrument suite PI, under the supervision of Dr. John Bonnell, on the upcoming OCHRE ionospheric Sounding Rocket mission scheduled for launch early 2027. I previously worked on the FOXSI-4 Sounding Rocket Campaign.
